Wits declare Jantjie's R4.5m contract null and void

Cape Town - Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi, the agent to the late Free State Stars winger Sinethemba Jantjie, has revealed the player's pre-contract with Bidvest Wits is null and void.

Jantjie's deal with the Clever Boys was set to commence from 1 July however he tragically lost his life in a car accident last week.

The player had signed a four-year R4.5 million deal with Wits but sadly his passing means that the club are not responsible for honouring the terms of the agreement.

Speaking to Kickoff, Mulovhedzi said: "I met them [Wits management] and they explained to me very well and we agreed.

"Because his contract was supposed to start on July 1, it was not yet active, and so it was declared null and void.

"If he had passed away on the first of July then they would have paid everything, so we agreed with Wits that no one is owed anything, there is no finger-pointing towards each other."

Jantjie was laid to rest in the Eastern Cape on April 6.
