Wits coach Hunt has a dig at Pirates

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has aimed a dig at Orlando Pirates, saying that their squad is basically comprised of players that were once on the Students' books.

Hunt made the comments in the aftermath of Pirates' 1-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening at Orlando Stadium where former Clever Boys striker Gabadinho Mhango got the winner for the Buccaneers.

Ex-Wits duo Vincent Pule, and Ben Motshwari were also in the Pirates' starting line-up.

"Pirates is Wits' second team if you think about it, they have all our players. Gaba (Mhango), Vincent Pule, Ben Motshwari, Xola Mlambo," Hunt told the media as quoted by Phakaaathi.

The Students will face Pirates in the Nedbank Cup and Hunt commented on the Bucs' resurgence, saying it is 'good for the league', while he expects another thrilling encounter when the sides meet with Wits having claimed a dramatic 4-3 victory in the league earlier this season.

"They (Pirates) are firing at the moment and it is good for the league," said Hunt.

"We will play them in the cup and the league, and we had a hell of a game (in the first round) where we beat them 4-3 in Durban."

In the meantime, Wits are set to take on Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership on Saturday evening at Cape Town Stadium.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
