Williams would 'gladly accept' SuperSport captaincy

Cape Town - SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams says he would be honoured to take over the club captaincy from Dean Furman.

Furman looks set to leave Matsatsantsa at the end of the season, when his contract expires, as he aims to continue his career in the United Kingdom.

The 31-year-old midfielder has recently stated that Williams would make the ideal replacement to take over the leadership role at SuperSport, and the gloveman admits he'd relish it.

"I've spent all my life at this club. I know the ins and out, including everyone. It would be an amazing personal achievement for me," said Williams, according to IOL.

"There's a lot of experience in the team, but if the responsibility is given to me then I'll gladly accept it. It's something that I would look forward to and treasure."

Williams, who won the Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award after helping United finish sixth in the league, is a product of the SuperSport United youth academy.
