Williams shocked by Pirates rumours

Cape Town - SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was shocked by the reports about his alleged imminent move to Orlando Pirates.

Williams has been linked with a move to the Buccaneers for the last two seasons, with reports claiming the Matsatsantsa stopper is wanted by Pirates to bolster the squad which has ambitions to conquer Africa.

"I must say that I was rather surprised when I read reports linking me with Pirates," Williams told KickOff.

"I need to state on the record that I've had absolutely no contact with them. I still have a year plus an option left on my contract, which I intend to honour. I work with a quality coach in [Stuart] Baxter and we believe in him.

"I'm also very happy here and see no reason to leave. I've been here for almost six seasons and I like the environment, players and the staff."

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse is also expected to join Matsatsantsa after failing to negotiate a contract extension with Amakhosi.
