Thembisa - Highlands Park shot-stopper Tapuwa Kapini believes that his teammates stuck to their game plan, which is the reason they have managed to get past the University of Pretoria on Saturday.
The Lions of the North defeated the struggling AmaTuks 1-0 in the PSL/NFD relegation and promotion play-offs at the Makhulong Stadium courtesy of Jose Garcia’s well taken strike.
The Zimbabwean international goalkeeper, Kapini hinted that the students game plan was not strong enough to intimidate the Lions as they relied on aerial balls inside the box, which he found easy to deal with.
“It was all about sticking to our tactics and we knew from the start that their (Tuks) tactics were not strong enough to defeat us,” insisted Kapini.
“Jose (Garcia) scored a great goal from a set piece and as from then I knew that Tuks won’t score.
“They were playing aerial balls and relied on the crosses for their strikers to head but honestly speaking, that to me were small bananas for me to catch with one hand.
“It was a good match after all and I’m glad because we managed to win the game.”
The Lions of the North will face second-placed Mbombela United in their next clash at the Makhulong Stadium on Wednesday (June 15).
Kick-off is at 15:00.
