We deserved to win - Solinas

Bethlehem - Free State Stars coach Giovani Solinas believes that his charges deserved to advance to the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals following their weekend victory over the National First Division outfit Santos.

Ea Lla Koto booked their place in the last eight of the R7m competition following their 1-0 triumph over the People’s Team at the Athlone Stadium last Saturday thanks to an own goal by Iqramn Rayners.

“I think we deserved to win that game from the start,” Solinas insisted.

“Our team played very well and we created a lot of goal scoring opportunities.

“We also dominated a lot of possession throughout the game despite Santos closing lot of spaces on the pitch.

“They tried to make lives difficult for us but at the end of the day it was a good victory for us.”

The quarterfinal draw for the Ke Yona competition will be conducted at the SuperSport studios in Randburg on Thursday.

It will commence at 19:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
