Cape Town - Absa Premiership side Cape Town City on Tuesday announced the signing of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola.

The 33-year-old joins the Cape-based side after becoming a free agent since his departure from the Soweto giants at the end of the 2019/2020 season.

Makola becomes the second player to join City from the Buccaneers after utility player Abubakr Mubara joined previously and will add competition for places in the midfield.

The Benni McCarthy-led side announced the signing on their official Twitter account with the Bafana Bafana international sharing his excitement at joining a team set for a title challenge.
