Pietermaritzburg - With six league games remaining in the 2015/16 season, Mpumalanga Black Aces goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters has admitted that he wishes to see his former team, Maritzburg United, in the top flight football next season.
The Team of Choice are currently rooted at the bottom of the Absa Premiership table and are likely to get an automatic relegation to the National First Division (NFD).
Walters, 34, is optimistic that United head coach Ernest Middendorp will fight until the end to ensure that his charges mustat least clinch the relegation/promotion play-offs in the off-season.
“I know they believe in the team because Ernest will never give up,” insisted Walters.
“Obviously if they stick to his instructions and tactics they will get something out of this.
“But even though they get all the tactics in the world, they still need to show confidence and all they need now is that one crucial win that’ll lift them up.
“They must show the hunger and the fighting spirit to get this done.
“They must keep going and I really wish to see them in the PSL next season.”
United will face Free State Stars in their next league assignment at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Tuesday, April 26.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
