Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi believes that team-mate Percy Tau is the favourite to win the Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season award.
Tau is a strong favourite to land the gong as he has been prolific in front of goal for the Brazilians while being a creative presence by picking up a number of assists for the Pitso Mosimane-coached outfit.
Under the skilled hand and guidance of Mosimane, Tau has arguably become South African football's deadliest attacking weapon in the final third of the pitch.
As such, Vilakazi, who landed the best player gong in 2013/14 while in the colours of Bidvest Wits, takes the view that the 23-year-old deserves the accolade.
Speaking to the Sowetan, he said: "For me, he has been the most consistent player in the league and I think it is his time because he has been doing tremendously well.
"You just have to look at the important goals he has got for us to see how important he has been for us. And I like that he is humble and continues to work hard and improve."
Both players are likely to be in action as Downs look to cement first position in the PSL when they face Chippa United at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday evening in Pretoria.
