Cape Town - Bidvest Wits duo Sibusiso Vilakazi and Bongani Khumalo have heaped praise on their team-mates for their fighting spirit, after Wits' 2-0 league victory over Supersport United on Tuesday night.
A brace from Papy Faty powered the Clever Boys to a comprehensive win away at the Lucas Moripe Stadium and closed the gap to just four points following log leaders' Mamelodi Sundowns draw Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday.
"Sometimes it doesn't go our way, but [last night] we turned the corner a little bit," Vilakazi said.
"I think the attitude from the boys was fantastic. Everyone in the field were fighting for one another, which drove us to managing the win."
Khumalo, on the other hand, was happy the side got back to winning ways following their Nedbank Cup exit, before thanking his team-mates for welcoming him into the team.
"It's a team effort. I think you can see there's great unity here," said Khumalo.
"I think the past few games, we sort of forgot to enjoy it a bit. We've been fighting, which is fantastic, unbelievable , but no matter how many games are left, we know the situation.
"We need to play football. We need to enjoy ourselves. I mean the fighting spirit was there.
"These guys are great. They're so welcoming to me, I owe them everything. And you know, in the last few game we've got to give it our all and see what happens."
