Vilakazi eyeing MTN8 glory

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Sibusiso Vilakazi reveals he is motivated to taste victory in a final ahead of the MTN8 showdown against Wits on Saturday.

The Bafana Bafana ace will face his former employers in the final after less than two months after leaving the university outfit.

Vilakazi lost two cup finals during his time at Wits with defeats in the 2011 Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup in 2013, both to Orlando Pirates.

When Wits won the Nedbank Cup in 2010 under coach Roger de Sa, the 26 year-old was sidelined by injury.

"I want to add more team awards because I have won more individual awards. I have lost in two finals with Wits but this is a different situation, hopefully it's going to be a turnaround for me," Vilakazi told The Sowetan.

"We have worked very hard under a tight schedule and we deserve a trophy with the effort that we have put in.

"It's going to be an interesting final and I hope I find myself on the winning side. We are ready to work for one another and impose ourselves. This is a trophy we are missing in the cabinet."

Vilakazi also acknowledged the difficulty that lies ahead due to the desperation of coach Gavin Hunt to deliver his first title at Wits.

"He is one coach who wants to go all out. He will pump that aggression into the players because they have not had anything in the cabinet for a long time."
