Vilakazi desperate to win CAF Champions League

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns striker Sibusiso Vilakazi is determined to have a say in this year's CAF Champions League after missing out last season.

The 27-year-old wasn't allowed to play in Africa's elite club competition last year as he had already represented Bidvest Wits and was therefore cup-tied during the Brazilians' triumphant campaign.

But 'Vila' is eligible now and is focusing on helping Masandawana retain the trophy they won in impressive fashion in 2016.

"The Champions League is very exciting for me," the South Africa international was quoted as saying by The Citizen website.

"I enjoy travelling and seeing other countries and experiencing the vibe and the crowds for the opponents we play.

"Most importantly (just) to participate in the Champions League is wonderful... for me it is a very deep feeling. I want to win things with the team and do it again and take another star."

Pitso Mosimane's side face Tunisian outfit Esperance at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday, in a clash that could go a long way in deciding who wins Group C.

Vilakazi described this encounter as being "crucial", adding: "It has been fairly ok (so far). We were able to get four points out of the two games we played, we drew at home and won away, we find ourselves equal with Esperance on top.

"That brings us to tomorrow's game, it is most important for us because we are playing at home, we must try by all means to use our home ground advantage.

"Obviously we know Esperance have been dominant in the past few years, they are formidable and it will not be an easy victory."
