Van Heerden explains Chippa move

Cape Town - New Chippa United defender Marc van Heerden explained that his appetite for PSL football prompted his exit from AmaZulu.

Van Heerden had been with Usuthu for the last eight years since joining from the University of Pretoria.

The 28-year-old remained loyal to the club after their relegation to the National First Division (NFD) in 2015.

"I want to say thank you for the continued support, love and kindness the supporters showed me. Playing in front of them was really special," Van Heerden said on the Usuthu website.

"To the players thank you and always keep the flag of Usuthu flying high and keep playing with all you have for the club.

"My reason for leaving was purely to challenge myself and to be back playing in the PSL. Thank you AmaZulu for the years and I wish you all well."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
