Cape Town - Nigeria international Ejike Uzoenyi has approached FIFA to find a way to be released from his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Uzoenyi, who was part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has found life tough at the CAF Champions League winners.
Since arriving at Chloorkop in 2014 from Enugu Rangers, the fleet-footed winger has only featured six times in the Premiership and now wants his R5 million-a-year agreement to be terminated in order to play first-team football again.
"Ejike's agent has petitioned FIFA asking that they terminate the player's contract, which still has a year to run," read a statement on African Football.
"The reason they put forward for the contract cancellation is that he has not played a minimum of 50% of the club's games in the last two years."
Uzoenyi was spotted training with the Flying Antelopes and is widely expected to rejoin the Nigeria Premier League champions once his contractual dispute is resolved.
