Usuthu star linked with switch to La Liga team

Cape Town - AmaZulu team manager Qedi Dlamini has confirmed that La Liga outfit Espanyol are interested in signing defensive midfielder Samuel Darpoh.

According to a Daily Sun report, the Spanish top flight side are hoping to beef up their squad by signing the talented and highly-rated Darpoh.

However, as yet no official approach has reportedly been made by the side who are currently 12th in their division.

Dlamini told the publication: "There's something from Espanyol... it is their wish."

The Ghana-born star has made 28 Absa Premiership appearances in 2018/19 and appears to be an important component of coach Cavin Johnson's side.

The 21-year-old was discovered from the Durban giants' academy during the 2016/17 campaign when they were still playing in the National First Division.

Usuthu recently offered the rising star a three-year deal as they look to secure his services ahead of any bigger move abroad.

AmaZulu are said to be close to striking up a partnership deal with Espanyol, which could take place in the near future.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
