Usuthu standing behind Steve Barker

Cape Town - AmaZulu FC management and supporters have reached common ground pertaining to plans to stand by Head Coach, Steve Barker during a supporters’ meeting held on 16 March 2016.

The past Sunday’s unwanted tensions that came after the 1-0 Baroka FC home loss created the need for the meeting which was held at Moses Mabhida Stadium offices.

The meeting was chaired by the club’s Supporters Coordinator & Head of Security, Qedi Dlamini alongside and Brilliant Mkhathini (Media Officer) and General Manager, Lunga Sokhela.

"We’re all not happy with the results but we all know that singling out individuals in a collective sport is unwise. Players know they all need to take responsibility on the same account as the Head Coach,” said Sokhela.

"At this stage we’re pleased and call upon the supporters to get behind the club as the core leadership of the club’s branches have agreed.

"Playoffs remain still very much a possibility for us.

"In the remaining eight matches all Steve Barker’s energies and his technical staff need to be focused towards preparing the team with the right kind of support for us to be able to stand a chance of achieving our objective."

The General Manager further declared the club’s appreciation for the unfailing support the Usuthu faithful have displayed throughout the bumpy season.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
