Urban Warriors pair make Amsterdam switch

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town starlets Leo Thethani and Dean Solomons have signed three year deals with the Urban Warriors' mother club, Ajax Amsterdam.

Thethani is an attacking midfielder while Solomons is a central defender. Both players are 18-years-old and have been representing the national U20 side.

They were reportedly hand-picked by Ajax Amsterdam's Marc Overmars and Edwin Van der Sar, the two former Dutch internationals.

The Cape side are hopeful that more of their academy players will soon be heading in the same direction.

"Ajax Cape Town wish both players the best of luck on their new venture and hope to see them in the Ajax Amsterdam Eredivisie team in the not so distant future‚" the club stated.

"Exciting plans between the two clubs are in advanced stages to further enhance the African Academy and will be revealed shortly.

"They [Ajax Amsterdam] have also earmarked further players currently in the Academy for a move to Amsterdam in the near future."
