Cape Town - Absa Premiership Player of the Season Percy Tau is reportedly attracting interest from English Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 24-year-old was the joint-top scorer (along with Rodney Ramagalela) in the PSL with 11 goals last campaign and as well as providing 13 assists.

The former Witbank Spurs forward, a CAF Champions League winner, has also scored five goals in nine internationals for Bafana Bafana.

According to the Brighton-based publication The Argus, the Premier League outfit is interested in acquiring the players services but have made no formal offer yet.

"The Argus can confirm the Seagulls are tracking Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau, who was recently named top man in his domestic competition,” the publication reported.

"While no bid has been made, Albion remain interested in the South Africa international who also scooped Players' Player of the Year honours recently in the top flight."

Brighton finished last season in 15th spot on the Premier League table, seven points clear of the relegation zone, with 35-year-old Glen Murray their top scorer with 12 goals.

The Chris Hughton-coached team were promoted from the Championship the previous season.

Tau has been linked with a move to the Spanish La Liga as well as Ligue 1, Serie A and the Bundesliga in Germany.

In a recent interview, the striker revealed that a transfer to the La Liga would be a dream come true.

"I believe so, that I’m ready to go overseas because I have played international football,” said Tau.

"With that reference of being at the club World Cup, CAF Champions League and playing for Bafana Bafana, I have judged myself based on that. Playing against Barcelona was also a good reference.

"I would go to Spain; I also like Germany and England. But if I choose one country it would be Spain. I would love to play against Madrid and Barcelona."
