Tyson dreams of playing in a Soweto derby

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits defender Thulani Hlatshwayo has caused a bit of a stir after revealing his dream is to play for Orlando Pirates.

The Bafana Bafana defender has enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Students this season, leading them to their maiden Premiership title - enjoying a fruitful partnership with Buhle Mkhwanazi.

However, the Ajax Cape Town academy graduate claims he grew up supporting the Buccaneers along with his family and will deeply regret not representing the Soweto giants at some point in his career.

"I can't lie, I don't want to retire one day without playing a Soweto Derby," the 27-year-old told KickOff website.

"I grew up supporting Pirates, and yes, they are struggling right now, but, given an opportunity, one day I would like to realise one of my childhood dreams and don the black and white, knowing also that most of my family supports Pirates."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
