Tuks appoint Bartlett as head coach

Cape Town - The University of Pretoria have parted ways with head coach Sammy Troughton with immediate effect and appointed Shaun Bartlett, the club announced on Thursday.

"Though we are parting with Coach Sammy in the middle of the season, we shall always hold him in high esteem for his loyalty and coach acumen for the many years he was an integral part of our programme," said Tuks' CEO Rendani Mulaudzi in a statement on the club's website.

"We shall not forget the role that Coach Sammy played in our structures for so many years, and we wish him the best as we part ways. We would like to thank him sincerely for the role he played in making our football programme and AmaTuks what they are today.

"This change in our coaching staff is motivated by the need for new ideas, approach and focus, according to Dr Mulaudzi. For this reason, we felt that Coach Shaun will bring some freshness and innovative ideas and programmes to our total football programme.

"Coach Bartlett will be assisted by Coach Evangelos Vellios, Goalkeeper Coach Tendai Tanyanyiwa, and the rest of the technical team. They have our fullest support because we believe that together they will bring the results we want," Mulaudzi explained.
