Cape Town - Tshakhuma Tsha Madzhivhandila FC official Livhuwani Madzuhe has laughed off claims that the club used muti in the Maritzburg United dressing room.
Last week, the Team of Choice arrived at Thohoyandou Stadium only to be greeted by a "horrible smell" and an "itchy" substance in their dressing room ahead of their PSL/NFD promotion-relegation playoff clash.
As such, Tinkler opted to take his team out of the visitors' dressing room in favour of changing on the team bus.
Following their 2-0 victory, Tinkler strongly believes that muti was likely used in the situation to mentally challenge his players ahead of the fixture.
"Those (using muti) things have happened in the past and it's unfortunate that it's happening in these days," Tinkler said.
"I remember as a player in the 80s, you used to go change in the bus, hey (because of muti use in the dressing room)."
However, Madzuhe denies that muti was used and that Tinkler was making mind games by taking his players to the bus.
"[Laughs] Nothing happened, he said he's been in this game since... which means he knows all the tricky games," Madzuhe tells KickOff.
"He was playing his own tricky games, not us. Hayi no, there was no such. I don't know where that thing is coming from because I had just met the players myself, they were coming out [of the change room]. They were going to the bus, then I asked myself why are the players going to the bus carrying their jerseys. Then when I asked somebody, they said there is a bad smell, they are itching. When I went there I didn't hear that smell, even the itching. I don't know where that thing was coming from.
"That's why I'm saying maybe it's their strategy, they did not want to go to the dressing room. There was no such because even there they asked us... they want people to go and clean and we asked the municipality to go and clean that place for them to be able to go back. There was no such. I think they were playing the dirty games with us."
