Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have revealed that transfer listed trio Siyanda Xulu, Edward Manqele and Siphelele Mthembu are still with the squad for now.
The Naturena-based outfit underwent a massive reshuffle of their roster two months ago, with coach Steve Komphela deciding to place as many as 20 players on the transfer list. However, following a reported lack of interest in the services of Xulu, Manqle and Mthembu, the trio still find themselves very much part of Amakhosi's plans.
"They are still here. Fortunately for them, they are still part of the squad. They are contracted to the team. They can compete. They can still play for the team," club chairman Kaizer Motaung told Sowetan Live.
"We saw that the hunger was not there before. Also, we felt that they needed to compete and play elsewhere. If you have a player like Siyanda Xulu, a quality international player, he is not playing, we get worried. We rather release him. Unfortunately, there is no offer at the moment and we are keeping him."
Chiefs recently acquired a number of players in preparation for the 2016/17 Premiership season, which could see the trio falling down falling even further down the pecking order. However, Motaung did say the players are still available if suitable offers are made.
"They are part of the team and the transfer list was given when we were off-loading the squad," he added.
"But if there is an inquiry about them, they will be released. If there is no offer we will keep them. They will have to play and serve the club," Motaung concluded.
