Cape Town - The agent of new Maritzburg United defender Bokang Tlhone confirmed his client has signed a permanent deal involving Denis Weidlich moving to Wits.

Tlhone arrived in Braamfontein in the off-season on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract with Free State Stars.

However, with the consistent form of Bafana Bafana left-back Sifiso Hlanti at the Clever Boys, the 26-year-old requested a loan move to gain some regular first-team football.

The move to the Team of Choice until the end of the season was agreed but after the Premiership Champions made their move for German defender Weidlich - the two clubs settled on an immediate swap deal.

“Maritzburg United have snatched Tlhone on a swap deal involving Denis Weidlich," Lwazi Mazibuko, the agent of Tlhone told IOL Sport.

"Wits was reluctant to release Thlone whom they valued and felt he was very much part of their plans going forward.

"Initially Wits was only willing to release the player on a 6 months loan but later on, Maritzburg United presented the reverse offer which saw Denis moving to Sturrock Park and Thlone to the team of Choice on a permanent basis."
