United head coach Eric Tinkler feels his side should have inflicted
further damage on Ajax Cape Town during their 1-0 Premiership victory on
Wednesday.
Aubrey Modiba's 25th-minute header from Ghana international left-back Richard Kissi Boateng's precise delivery handed Matstsansa all three points at the Mbombela Stadium to move into tenth place.
However, Tinkler feels on the basis of their first-half performance, they should have wrapped the game up as the Urban Warriors nearly found a way back into the fixture in the second period.
"I thought we reacted well in that first 25 minute period," he said after the game. "We got the goal and possibly could have got one or two if we were a little bit better in our transitional play in the final third. We could have really hurt them.
"In the second half, we became complacent and nearly lost it."
After moving into tenth place with 13 points after six games, only six points off leaders Baroka with six matches in hand, Tinkler insists their attention will quickly be switched to their next league game.
"We've got Pirates coming up next, which is another massive game next Tuesday and that’s where our focus is now," he said in reference to the fixture at the Orlando Stadium.
The CAF Confederation Cup runners-up will now be looking to catch up on their missed league fixtures due to the participation in the continental showpiece and build momentum into the title race.
