Tinkler: We are ready for Sundowns

Cape Town - Following to their hard fought 1-0 triumph over the University of Pretoria at the weekend, Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has expressed his delight at the manner in which his troops displayed their character.

Thabo Matlaba’s 70th-minute strike was enough for the Buccaneers to record back-to-back Absa Premiership victories and also pile more misery on a wounded AmaTuks last Saturday.

However, Pirates will have to make do without their stand-in captain due to suspension on Wednesday.

The win was a morale booster for the Buccaneers heading to their tough assignment against Sundowns.

“I am always confident whenever we play our games. We always play to win regardless of who we are playing against.

“We are fully motivated heading to the game against Sundowns, yes they are really doing well and are on top form but we have played against big teams before and won, so we are ready for them,” said Tinkler.

Kick-off at Orlando Stadium is scheduled for 19:30.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
