Tinkler wants improvements in attack

Cape Town - Cape Town City FC Eric Tinkler admits his team needs to improve in a number of key areas including their sharpness in front of goal.

The Premiership newcomers have had a satisfactory start to their season after two wins, one draw and a loss.

Last week, City FC claimed the Cape bragging rights after recording a 1-0 win against neighbours Ajax Cape Town.

"We played a game full of mistakes and offensively we did not punish our opponent when they made mistakes," Tinkler told the Sowetan.

"I thought we were a bit fortunate in the first half. Ajax got behind us but luckily we got away with it. It's important for us to keep on a winning way.

"We started a bit passively and then we had a little dip but this league is all about collecting points. There is a lot of pressure on us to win our home games but we also want to do well on the road.

"We've had to rest the players since Ajax and then see who is fit and available. You can see why it is important to have a 26-man squad. The substitutes are no longer there anymore just to make up the numbers."

City FC will be up against Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium on Tuesday evening.
