Tinkler to strengthen squad for next season

Cape Town - Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler admits that the club are already in the process of expanding the squad.

The Citizens are experiencing a successful inaugural season as they occupy third position on the Premiership table and have also claimed the Telkom KnockOut trophy in December last year.

If all goes well and City remain third, Tinkler and his squad will have the chance at gunning for the CAF Confederations Cup next year.

In the meantime, the club mentor that with playing in Africa it will give the national side a better chance as players will experience performing on a big stage.

“We will reassess the squad come the end of the season although we’ve already started doing that,” said Tinkler to EWN Twitter account.

“You always looking to strengthen the squad and get depth.

“For us to achieve that in our first season is fantastic and giving guys the opportunity to experience in what CAF competitions are all about, what’s it like to travel in Africa.

“The more players experience that the better obviously for the national team.”

City will play their final home match against Golden Arrows at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Kick off is at 19:30.
