Tinkler tells Pitso to get his facts right regarding Ali Meza

Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler says Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane got his facts wrong when criticizing his club regarding handing Jose Ali Meza a trial.

Meza is still contracted to Sundowns although Mosimane is eager to loan out the South American as he struggled for playing time in 2018/19.

Nonetheless, 'Jingles' was critical of the Team of Choice for not signing the Venezuelan outright on loan and instead of requesting he come on board for a trial period.

With that said, Tinkler revealed that the 28-year-old was not signed because he had personal problems although he did admit signing a player who hasn't had much first-team football is a big risk.

He said: "There was never a deal and Pitso was having a little something about why is Eric Tinkler wanting to trial him first. The question is, when last did he play? Did we request trials? No.

"They told us 'let him come and train with you'. Did his situation [with family] occur while he was still here? No, his situation with his family was already a problem, I don't know where Pitso's attack is coming from. I think he needs to get his facts right before he starts to make attacks.

"The guy arrived and explained to me he's got problems with his family. He said, 'as much as I want to be here my family comes first' and I can't blame him.

"We have an obligation to have trials for any player who hasn't played for a while. Six months is a hell of a long time, anything can change so it's a massive risk to sign players like that."
