Tinkler seeks Nedbank Cup redemption

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler believes his team could have done better than their seventh-place finish in the Premiership.

The Buccaneers ended their season with a 2-2 draw against SuperSport United at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Pirates ended their long season with 41 points, following 11 wins eight draws and 11 losses in the league.

Tinkler will be looking for redemption in their Nedbank Cup final against Matsatsantsa at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 28 May.

"Obviously I'm not satisfied, I wish I can be sitting in front of you as Confederation Cup winners," Tinkler told KickOff.

"It was disappointing that we lost the Confederation Cup final, we are disappointed that we didn't finish high in the league. Even the Telkom Knockout, losing in the penalties to Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final.

"Now we've a chance to win the Nedbank Cup and we want to finish the season on a positive note with the trophy."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
