Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has praised hard tackling defender, Edwin Gyimah, for his positive contributions since he took over the centre-back position.
The Ghanaian born has been superb in the heart of the Buccaneers defence, forming a formidable partnership with Ayanda Gcaba.
Gyimah’s heroics won him the Man-of-the-Match accolade when the Buccaneers shared the spoils against Maritzburg United at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Tinkler said that the defender understands exactly what the technical team expects from him and he always abides by his instructions.
"Edwin (Gyimah) is a great professional player and everyone can see his dedication,” said Tinkler
"He works hard at training and also transfers all his hard work to matches as well.
"Even during his suspension period, he was working extremely hard and he is a player who follows the technical team instructions. He understands exactly what we expect from him and he has done well for the team.
"In the second-half on Saturday, Evans Rusike was a threat to us and giving us a tough time, we gave him a room and too much space to penetrate but Eddie (Gyimah) came up with one or two crucial tackles to prevent him from scoring.
"As a coach I’m happy with his overall contributions."
