Tinkler not focused on TKO final

Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler is refusing to talk about his side's upcoming appearance in the Telkom Knockout final, insisting he is focused on Friday's clash with Bidvest Wits.

The newly-formed Premiership outfit have hit the ground running under the guidance of the former Pirates mentor, seeing off Bloemfontein Celtic, Baroka FC and Free State Stars to book their place in the final of the cup competition.

However, Tinkler wants his players to remain focused on the task at hand.

"We've still got the Wits game and then I'll deal with the final after that," said Tinkler, as quoted by TMG Digital.

"My players must understand we have a very important league game and we want to win it so that we keep up momentum going into the final.

"We can't afford to be thinking about the Telkom final just yet."

The Citizens currently occupy top spot in the Premiership standings, but Wits are just one point behind with two games in hand.

Kick off is at 20:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
