Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler believes Aubrey Ngoma should be rewarded for an outstanding campaign with the PSL Player of the Season award.
The 27-year-old midfielder has played a massive part in City challenging for the Premiership title in their first season since re-forming when they bought Mpumalanga Black Aces' franchise rights.
Ngoma and Lebogang Manyama have formed an impressive partnership, with Tinkler finding it tough to choose between the two of them after seeing his captain score 13 goals to lead the scoring charts in the league with two games remaining.
"I think both of them have been fantastic, but so have a number of other players in the league," Tinkler said at a press conference. "I think [Percy] Tau has done a phenomenal job and I think he is a huge talent at Mamelodi Sundowns.
"But, I think, overall, I would probably give it to Ngoma, believe it or not. Aubrey, in my opinion, has had a fantastic season and the amount of assists he has provided.
"But that is not taking anything away from Lebo Manyama's season. I think consistently, Aubrey was very good throughout the season."
The Citizens still have a slim chance of being crowned champions, as they take on Golden Arrows at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday looking to close the five-point gap to Bidvest Wits at the summit.
