Chippa have started the season by claiming only a single point from their opening three league matches.
It's still early days, but according to an IOL source from inside the Chilli Boys camp, Chippa boss Siviwe Mpengesi, never shy to change his head coach, could be set to implement yet another coaching change.
"Our training session was cancelled [on Monday afternoon]. He [Malesela] told us that it looks like he has been fired, but he will get an official word tomorrow morning.
"We were told to go back home. Everyone was shocked. We were still enjoying working with him. This is sad, because we will have to adapt to a new coach.
"Dan is leaving. He is not going to be coaching Chippa United in their next match. It looks like they will hire Eric Tinkler to take over the reins. He wasn';t given enough support," the source claimed.
Malesela is currently in his second spell as Chippa head coach, having taken over from Vladislav Heric, who had replaced Tebogo Moloi.
Tinkler has been out of a job since departing SuperSport United in the middle of last season.
