Tinkler: I will never quit

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has dismissed speculation he is on his way out of the club, with reports linking him to Maritzburg United.

Tinkler has been under intense pressure this season due to the Soweto club's indifferent form on the domestic stage, and their CAF Confederation Cup final loss did little to appease the Buccaneers faithful.

As such, the former Bafana Bafana international is facing an ever-growing chorus of discontent, leading to a section of the club's fans asking whether Tinkler could be facing the sack.

And, due to a lack of domestic action to keep supporters entertained, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive this week, suggesting the Team of Choice could make a move for Tinkler if he were to part ways with Pirates.

However, Tinkler insists there is no substance to the rumours and also took the opportunity to dispel the notion he could be on the verge of handing in his resignation.

"That's false, I don't know what you talking about," said Tinkler when asked about the Maritzburg reports.

"There is no link between me and Maritzburg United.

"Me, I will never quit - I have never been a quitter in my life.

"Currently I am head coach of Orlando Pirates and that's where I remain."
