Tinkler hails Nedbank Cup final berth

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler believes his team's first-half performance set the tone for the 4-2 win over Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

Luvuyo Memela grabbed a brace while Thamsanqa Gabuza scored and Lucky Mohomi handed Pirates an own goal.

Mohomi would also score for Stars and Ayanda Nkosi grabbed the other consolation goal at Goble Park.

"I'm obviously very delighted, particularly with the first half. I thought we were exceptional how we started the game," Tinkler told KickOff.

"We looked lively and put them under pressure. We knew if we pressed them high they would start panicking and giving the ball away which is what happened.

"I thought we deserved our 2-0 lead at half-time. I explained the danger of the result, not to concede. Unfortunately that is exactly what happened. It was also due to them changing to a 3-5-2 formation."
