Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler says striker Jeremy Brockie will experience a big boost of confidence after scoring on Friday.
The pressure has been building on the New Zealander over the last two years as he struggled to find the back of the net consistently, but he brought an end to his barren run in the 1-1 draw with Cape Town City and Tinkler is delighted for him.
"Jeremy has been fantastic this whole week at training. He came on with the right energy and mindset. He nearly scored two tonight (Friday). I am happy for him. I think, he needed that goal to lift off the pressure he has been carrying on his shoulders," Tinkler said, as quoted by IOL.
"The goal will give him confidence. He has worked hard. A lot of people don't understand that it is hard when you are out as long as he has been. The expectations are high because of what Jeremy did at SuperSport.
"The expectations is that he is going to come out and continue where he was. But unfortunately, the game doesn't work like that."
The Team of Choice will be taking on Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 on Friday 7 February.
