Tinkler believes City have raised eyebrows

Cape Town - Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler believes his team have overachieved in their five opening Premiership games in their first official season.

City have lost only once in their first five league games of the season with two draws and two wins.

Tinkler was clearly pleased with the output of his newly-assembled squad at the Mother City club.

"It's been a massive challenge that has had the good and the bad. If you asked me before the league started," he told KickOff.

"If I had played five league games and been on eight points if I would be happy with that, I probably would have said 'of course'.

"We try break it up into segments of five - we've collected eight points, so you start adding that and multiplying it by six, we'd be on 48 points - that's a guaranteed top eight.

"So if you look at it that way, you'd say 'yes, sure I'd be happy'. But looking at the games we've played, and how many points we should have collected, there's that disappointment, that we've let ourselves down.

"You only know later how valuable those points may become in the bigger picture of things."
