Cape Town - Golden Arrows goalkeeper Maximillian Mbaeva has been handed a three-match ban after picking up his second red card of the season.

The 26-year-old received his marching orders in the closing stages of the 3-2 defeat at Bidvest Wits on Saturday for handling the ball outside his area.

Mbaeva has already served a two-game suspension this term for committing a similar offence against University of Pretoria on the opening day, which also resulted in his dismissal.

The Namibia international will not be eligible for the outings against Polokwane City, Free State Stars and Chippa United, but will be back in contention for the visit of Maritzburg United on January 23.
