Thobejane sees Baroka as league champs

Cape Town - Baroka FC coach Kgoloko Thobejane believes his side will be 2016/17 Premiership champions when the season is concluded in May next year.

Despite already being six points behind joint league leaders Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs, Thobejane is confident Bakgaga can be crowned PSL champions when all is said and done.

Baroka are in their first season in the South African top flight after winning promotion last season, but the club's coach feels that this won't be a stumbling block to success.

"Since way back in the days of playing tournaments in the villages, there has only been once prize - the championship. There are no other prizes. You should have the will and desire," he told Soccer Laduma.

"(In the village growing up) I would play while also looking after my grandmother's goats, sheep and donkeys. They all knew that this was the work I love and football is in my blood.

"We are not in the PSL to add numbers and we will play football against any team. We see ourselves as champions of the league."

Baroka's quest for league title glory continues when they face Polokwane City on Sunday. The action gets underway from 15:30 at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
