Cape Town - Brandon Theron has revealed his reason behind joining newly-promoted Absa Premiership outfit Highlands Park despite interest from Cape Town City FC.
The 23-year-old was recently handed a three-year contract by Allan Freese's side, after a four years at National Division outfit Milano United.
"Unfortunately it is not easy for a guy that is out of his comfort zone, but I think it is a new beginning to a new chapter and to look forward in my football career," Theron told Goal.com website.
"For the past few seasons I have been a competitor in the First Division; they [Highlands Park] are fighters, they work very hard, they never back down from challenges and success will come our way."
Theron will look to impress in his debut season in the Premiership after being unveiled as one of the 12 new acquisitions for the Lions of the North last month.
"It all happened after the playoffs, but it was a surprise to me because such a good team wanted my service. I am looking forward to helping the team achieve their goals," he added.
"I was training for a few weeks with Cape Town City, but Highlands came knocking and I just couldn't reject their offer."
"I just want to play regularly this coming season; be part of the squad, score goals, create goals and contribute to the success of the club," he concluded.
