Cape Town - Orlando Pirates forward Thembinkosi Lorch insists he is a team player and that individual awards will not make him selfish.
Lorch scooped the PSL player of the month award for February after a productive effort for his team.
The 25-year-old is also a strong candidate to win the Footballer of the Year prize at the end of the season but there have been some Bucs supporters that have said they think Lorch is being selfish on the pitch.
The player obviously rejected those claims, telling the Sowetan: "The supporters will always comment, whether you do good or bad.
"I'm a team player, and whenever I'm in a good position to score, I would score. If I'm not in a good position, I'm going to pass.
"Sometimes it happens that you are in a good position and your teammate is in another position where you can pass [the ball] to him, but your focus is on the goals.
"I'll keep working for the team to make sure we get what we want. I have 10 goals [in all competitions] and four assists, which means I score and share with my teammates."
Lorch and his Pirates team-mates are preparing for a crucial CAF Champions League encounter against Zimbabwe side FC Platinum that will be played on Friday.
