Cape Town - Abbubaker Mobara has expressed his delight at being back in the Mother City after signing a four-year-deal with Cape Town City.

The announcement confirming the news was made by City early on Wednesday morning. Mobara, who hails from Mitchells Plain, had limited game time in his last three seasons at Orlando Pirates, making just eight appearances in the 2018/2019 campaign.

"To come back here and play in the Mother City is a warm feeling, a wonderful feeling, I see home, and that’s the feeling where the heart is. The heart wants to be home," Mobara said in a video posted by the Citizens on Twitter.

"It’s a family team, it’s one and that’s the feeling I want to gain back. The feeling of happiness is important," he continued.

The 25-year-old, who has won eight caps for Bafana Bafana, rose to prominence at the 2016 Rio Olympics when he successfully man-marked Neymar out of the game against Brazil. The former Ajax academy graduate can play at right back, centre-back or as a holding midfielder.

"I really want to prove myself and not to the rest of the world, but to myself that I am worthy of being in a beautiful team like this. I see the team is doing well for itself and I see how happy the players are."
