Cape Town - Supersport
United's Kaitano Tembo praised the never-say-die attitude of his side
after they scored a late winner to secure a 3-2 win over Free State
Stars on Wednesday.
The match looked to be headed for a 2-2 draw until substitute Teboho
Mokoena struck an 89th minute goal to give Matsatsantsa the win, which
handed his side a huge boost in the battle to avoid the relegation
Tembo was in the end happy with the effort of his players in getting
the three vital points against the stubborn Ea Lla Koto side.
Matsatsantsa have now moved back to 14th position and are a point ahead of second from bottom Ajax Cape Town.
Tembo told SuperSport: "I think we could have scored more, but at the
same time we really worked for the goals that we scored especially in
the first half.
"I think in the first we had a few good clear cut chances that we did
not take. Sometimes when you are not doing well you lose a little bit
of confidence and we sat back a little bit and started panicking.
"We made couples of errors and they equalised, but after that we
responded very well. We got our second goal and again we did not defend
"But I am really happy with the fighting spirit from the guys. I
think they left everything in the field today and that’s what we have
been asking from them.
"Today the showed that they can still give us that and we are really proud of them."
