Tembo explains how SSU will use Thamsanqa Gabuza

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo says he will use former Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza as a traditional number nine.

Gabuza was signed from the Sea Robbers after a career of mixed fortunes in front of goal for the Soweto giants.

The 31-year-old was often a favourite of the boo-boys at Bucs though he now has a chance to rejuvenate his career with SuperSport.

Tembo told KickOff: "I know Gabuza is not yet fit because he joined us late. We are trying to build his fitness level because I know his qualities and I know how we are going to use him in the team.

"Gabuza is your typical number nine. He is strong, his work ethic is good. He is someone we can play off because he can hold the ball, he is strong ,that's the role he is going to play and also put pressure on defenders.

"I can guarantee you he is going to fit in very well once he starts getting his confidence back because it has been tough for him the past season. We are going to try to build his confidence, that will help."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
