Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has downplayed the absence of Aubrey Modiba from the squad amid links with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admitted the Brazilians were interested in Modiba back in July but SuperSport were quick to issue a hands-off warning over the talented 24-year-old at the time.
A lack of action for Modiba in Matsatsantsa colours has prompted rumours to resurface that the former Mpumalanga Black Aces winner could be on his way out of the club.
But Tembo has moved quickly to dispel such suggestions, simply stating that the reason for Modiba's absence in recent weeks is due to an injury he sustained in the clash with Highlands Park on December 6.
"Aubrey is injured. He got injured during the league match against Highlands Park," Tembo told KickOff.
"He got a muscle pull and so he is going through rehabilitation. He is out for two to three weeks.
"At the moment Aubrey is our player until I am told otherwise. But for now, he is our player, that's all I know."
