Teko: Whoever wants it more will win

Cape Town - Cape Town City attacking midfielder Teko Modise is hopeful the Citizens can spring a surprise over Premiership league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, ahead of Friday's clash in the Mother City.

City are currently in second position in the standings with a four point deficit behind the Brazilians in first. However, should they seal the three points at the Athlone Stadium the gap will be reduced to just a single point.

Both outfits have been in good form in 2018 and the upcoming encounter could have a huge say in the eventual outcome of the Absa Premiership title race.

Modise, who played for Downs between 2011 and 2017, told reporters: "It is a very important game, they are on top of the log and we are a few points behind.

"The aim and ambition is to try and minimise the points between (us and) the first position, that’s why it is going to be important for us to get a good result against Sundowns even though we know the qualities that they have and they are such a good team.

"We are also a very good team with so much ambition but on the day, whoever wants it more will win the game.

"We are playing very well but one thing that is disappointing is that we are not scoring as many goals as we are supposed to and hopefully on the day we can cause an upset."

Kick-off is at 20:00.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
