Tefu set for knee surgery

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter has revealed that new signing Tefu Mashamaite could go under the knife to repair his injured knee.

Matsatsantsa signed the former Bafana Bafana defender after spending a season in Sweden with BK Hacken.

Mashamaite, who has reunited with former Kaizer Chiefs coach, is set to undergo surgery on his knee.

"On my phone I have message from Masha. He met the surgeon, who wanted to discuss whether to operate on his knee or not," Baxter told KickOff.

"We need to speak about it because many times if you don't do anything it can be okay, but many times you can rest for a week and it will break down, rest another week and break down...and the season can disappear. We are going to talk what we going to do as strategy.

"We have six players that will be out for at least for a month. We've got Clayton Daniels, Grant Kekana, Masha, Fagrie Lakay, Keagan Ritchie and Cole Alexander all out, and might only come back after about a month."

Matsatsantsa will next face Maritzburg United in the Premiership at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday.
