Cape Town - Maritzburg United boss Farook Kadodia believes new coach Eric Tinkler has the right strategy to help his team avoid relegation.
United are having an awful season and are marooned at the bottom of the table as a result.
So far in the Premiership in 2018/19, Fadlu Davids was sacked as coach before the club recently parted ways with Muhsin Ertugral following five defeats in a row.
The Team of Choice handed Tinkler a deal until the end of the campaign with an option for a further two years thereafter.
Kadodia told the Sowetan: "I spoke to Eric at length. It's obvious a different approach [is needed] when you're fighting relegation and he understands very well the approach needed.
"He has a strategy of how to get the club out of relegation trouble."
The former Orlando Pirates coach will be in charge when United take on Premiership league leaders Bidvest Wits on Friday at the BidVest Stadium in Johannesburg.
At this stage even a victory won't take Maritzburg off bottom spot however it would come as a boost with matches running out this season.
Kick-off is 20:00.
