Tau praises 'big player' Laffor

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns sensation Percy Tau has praised teammate Anthony Laffor for his ability to produce the goods at vital times and make an impact in major matches.

The Liberia international again came to the fore when he bagged a crucial equaliser against Uganda's KCCA to help the Brazilians advance on aggregate to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

Laffor grabbed the vital strike in the 1-1 draw with the Garbage Collectors in the 80th minute which allowed Masandawana to progress 3-2 on aggregate in the competition.

"He is a big player. Big players play well in big games, seize the moment and score," Tau said of Laffor.

"We fought hard as a team, and we knew that if we played our football we will score. We knew we would get at least one.

"We are, after all African champions, and just needed to believe in ourselves.

"When they scored, we knew it was going to be even harder, but we kept to our game plan, played football, and the goal came."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
