SuperSport United announce 5-year deal with Umbro

Cape Town - Tshwane giants SuperSport United confirmed a five-year sponsorship deal with English sportswear and football equipment supplier Umbro.

After several years, Matsatsantsa ended their partnership with Kappa to go into the new season aiming to add to their trophy cabinet.

"This is a big season of change and dynamism for our club as we launch a new sponsorship cycle across our first team Jersey, academy sponsors and our technical partners," said club CEO Stanley Matthews.

"The launching pad for all 3 sponsorships is a world-class kit sponsor and in Umbro, we have a truly global brand partner with a powerful African pedigree.

"We are fortunate that we have worked with Umbro before in the early 2000s, having won the SAA with them in 2004 and the Absa Cup in 2005. We know the reliability and consistency of the Umbro brand and the people that drive it.

"When you match that with the latest innovation, cutting edge designs and unique style and quality features, then we are confident that our players are going to love playing in Umbro and our fans are going to love wearing it.”

Meanwhile, Umbro South Africa director Donovan Bell says that he hopes the deal will bring in another PSL trophy, something the club has not achieved in 10 years.

"This partnership is really exciting news for Umbro and we’re proud to sign a deal with the club for the next five seasons,” Bell said.

"SuperSport United have been at the summit of South African football for many years and we hope that success continues and culminates in another PSL trophy."
